Theo thông tin ban đầu, vào khoảng 6 giờ 30 sáng cùng ngày, nhà bà Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Điệp ( 43 tuổi, đường Chu Văn An, phường Phù Đổng, TP Pleiku) đổ bê tông trần nhà.
Lúc này chủ thầu là ông Huỳnh Công Bằng (54 tuổi, trú đường Lê Lợi, phường Hội Thương) và 13 nhân công khác cùng đổ bê tông.
Đến 11 giờ cùng ngày, khối bê tông bất ngờ sập khiến ông Bằng và 1 nhân công khác bị đè. Ngay sau đó người dân đã trình báo lên cơ quan chức năng.
